LINDEN, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — A woman was arrested this week, after another shopper said she pulled a stun gun on her during an argument over a shopping cart in a Wal-Mart parking lot in Linden, N.J.

Latosha Mathis, 34, was charged with illegal possession of a stun gun following the incident on Thanksgiving night.

Around 7:18 p.m. Thursday, a Linden fire captain monitoring the Gray Thursday crowds at the Wal-Mart told an officer that a woman was in possession of a stun gun.

Police said they later learned that a 42-year-old Staten Island woman had been arguing with another woman, when the second woman pulled the stun gun and activated it in a threatening manner.

Mathis, of Elizabeth, N.J., was arrested after the TW-11 stun gun was found in her purse, police said.

She was released on a summons pending a date next Friday in Union County court, police said.

If convicted, she could face a fine of up to $10,000 and up to 18 months in jail.

Brawls and threats were reported in numerous big-box stores and malls across the country as the holiday shopping season kicked off Thursday and Friday.
